The Underlying Condition in health research: Reflections from the rural Midwest

In her talk Novak will share reflections and findings from social epidemiologic and community-engaged research striving to illuminate the histories and hierarchies that produce persistent health inequities in the rural Midwest. She will discuss some of the challenges of conducting this work, which focuses on workplace immigration enforcement raids and COVID outbreaks in meat processing communities, within a public health paradigm.
