21st Century Cuisine, Nutrition and Genetics in France and the United States

This project, a collaboration between UCLA and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) Paris, brings scholars from the life, human and social sciences together at the intersection of genetics, nutrition and cuisine.  Participating scholars are studying questions such as the media framing of obesity in France and the United States, the history of the metabolic sciences, the socialization of eating habits and taste in schoolchildren, and the interaction of the social and genetic forces acting on taste.  The project is funded by the Partner University Fund, a program of FACE.
