The application forms for both the Human Biology and Society majors (B.A. and B.S.) and Society and Genetics minor for the Fall 2025 Application Cycle will go live in mid-September and will be due in Week 1 Friday of Fall quarter (note that this may be subject to change). Any student meeting the eligibility requirements outlined below will be able to apply in our Fall cycle. Note that students in the Class of 2028 (i.e., sophomores for the A.Y. 2025 – 2026) will be applying to the Spring 2026 cycle, which will open in late Winter 2026 (around Week 8/9 of Winter quarter) and will be due in early Spring 2026 (around Friday of Week 2 of Spring quarter).
Human Biology & Society (B.A. & B.S.) Major – Fall Application Cycle
Human Biology and Society (B.A.) Major
- New transfer students are welcome to apply to the Human Biology and Society (B.A.) major.
- Continuing juniors (i.e., Class of 2027) with exceptional circumstances may apply but will need to fill out an additional section in the application (i.e., the Petition for Exception Section).
- Students who applied in the past and were denied admission CANNOT re-apply.
Human Biology and Society (B.S.) Major
- New transfer students who got accepted to UCLA as a life science major may apply to the Human Biology and Society (B.S.) major. New transfer students who got into UCLA as a non-life science major CANNOT apply to the B.S. major.
- Continuing juniors (i.e., Class of 2027) with exceptional circumstances may apply but will need to fill out an additional section in the application (i.e., the Petition for Exception Section).
- Students who applied in the past and were denied admission CANNOT re-apply.
Society and Genetics Minor
- Only Class of 2027 may apply to the Society and Genetics minor in Fall 2025.
- Incoming transfers and continuing juniors from both the B.A. and B.S. backgrounds are welcome to apply.
- Students who applied to the Human Biology and Society major in Spring 2025 and were denied admission are welcome to apply to the Society and Genetics minor.
- Please note that current HBS majors cannot apply to the Society and Genetics minor.
