Lifetime Achievement: ISG Founder Norton Wise awarded the History of Science Society’s 2019 Sarton Medal

Belated congratulations to Norton Wise, founding co-director of ISG and Distinguished Research Professor of History, Emeritus, at UCLA who was awarded the History of Science Society’s 2019 Sarton Medal for lifetime scholarly achievements on July 25, 2019. Wise’s outstanding work is centered on the history of physics in which he challenged many people to perceive science in different realms. The History of Science Society (est. 1924) is the world’s largest society committed to examining science, technology, and their interactions with society in historical context. Wise among thousands of members across the world have supported the Society’s mission to “foster interest in the history of science, promote discussion of science’s social and cultural relations, and bring this understanding to others worldwide.”
