Oral History of Human Genetics

Human genetics is a scientific and medical discipline that developed after World War II. Recognizing that the founders of this discipline are still among us, oral historians from UCLA and Johns Hopkins University, working with an expert advisory committee to prioritize interviews, have been conducting interviews of senior human geneticists and identifying important themes woven through the history, conceptual structures, and working practices of this discipline.  Through features such as annotation and cross-referencing on our website, we will enrich the oral history database and make it highly user-friendly.  Our goals in developing this project are to inspire students, inform ethical debate, and suggest new research  tdirections to geneticists, historians, and other scholars.
