Nick Shapiro receives the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation’s “Data, Justice, and Society” Grant

Congratulations to ISG Faculty member, Nick Shapiro, who was selected  as one of five inaugural faculty members to receive the Mellon “Data, Justice, and Society” grant. The new grant is dedicated to develop new undergraduate or graduate courses to teach in the areas of critical data studies, data and society and digital humanities, using social justice frameworks.

In addition to receiving $8,000 in research funds, Shapiro will participate in quarterly cohort meetings to support and advance his continued work with data ethics and justice, community-engaged teaching and designing his new “Data, Justice, and Society” course.
